16) Tu 03-Jul-2001 DR09       Brendon and Ton went practicing at the driving range. Ton took advantage of the 3 hour free club fitting event they had this week. You can try out different clubs (all iron 5 or 6) with different shafts, lengths, club heads, angles and degree of forgiveness (360, etc.). 17) Th 05-Jul-2001   L07     Lesson #7 (I had to skip #6 last week). This week Todd taught us how to improve the back swing. Ton was hitting the balls much more consistent after this great tip. McCleery Golf Course, Vancouver
18) Fr 06-Jul-2001     P&P03   After work Brendon and Ton went to the "Central Park" pitch and putt golf course in Burnaby for an 18 hole game. We teamed up with Jason and Kelly, who played in front of us. Central Park, Burnaby

20 Th 12-Jul-2001   L08     Lesson #8: We had to play a short game to the hole from a 100 yard distance, using the tee. McCleery Golf Course, Vancouver
21) Tu 17-Jul-2001 DR11       Brendon and Ton each emptied 2 buckets of golf balls at the driving range tonight. Eagle Quest at Musqueam, Vancouver
22) We 18-Jul-2001 DR12       Ton got a free club fit session where the best club was determined by looking at and measuring his swings using  test clubs with stickers. These clubs were used to find out were on the club face and sole the stickers show contact with either the golf ball or ground. Using an iron 5 these are the results: shaft length = 38.5 inches; shaft material = iron; club angle = 62 degrees; stiffness = regular. McCleery Golf Course, Vancouver

Ton's first golf set Before lesson number 9 Ton bought his very first golf set (Infiniti Millenium), golf bag, towel and wood covers. Lesson 9 took place on a real fairway (first time) where we did 2 holes. Ton finished both of them with a bogey ... is that a handicap 18 for a starter? After the lesson I joined Brendon at the driving range at Eagle Quest to try out the new clubs.

24) Su 22-Jul-2001       G01 06.00-11.00 AM: First 18 hole game with Stephen Lee, his friend Peter Livingston and Brendon Joseph at the Carnoustie Golf Club in Port Coquitlam. Ton's score was 105 at a 71 stroke course (he's teeing off with a 3 wood on the picture below). Afterwards Ton bought a sand wedge which was not part of the standard golf set.

25) We 25-Jul-2001 DR13       Driving range time at Eagle Quest. Ton went there with Shawn Tagseth. Eagle Quest at Musqueam, Vancouver
26) Th 26-Jul-2001   L10     After purchasing an umbrella Ton went for his 10th and last lesson at McCleery Golf Club. This week we went to shoot balls to 2 holes as a practice. McCleery Golf Course, Vancouver

30) Fr 03-Aug-2001 DR15       Ton went to the driving range to prepare for the game on Sunday. Eagle Quest at Musqueam, Vancouver
30) Su 05-Aug-2001       G03 Ton was invited for a friendly South-African 18 hole tournament. Tee-off time was at 12.30 PM. We finished at 18.00 PM. The team members were Peter Livingston, Brendon Joseph, Ton Ensink and Stephan Lee. We played "best shot" and our end result was par +8. See Golf Score Cards for more details. Ton won a price for "kp" (closed to the pin) on hole 8. He won 2 tickets to the Air Canada Championship 2001 in Vancouver. The second half of the game it started to rain heavily.

Sa 01-Sep-2001         Ton had tickets for the Air Canada Championship 2001 (in Vancouver-Surrey) and went there with Brendon Joseph. Some of the players they saw playing were Jesper Parnevik (Sweden) and David Frost (South Africa). See pictures.

42) Fr 02-Nov-2001       G10 Today a group of colleagues from the IT department of Crystal Decisions in Vancouver went to play golf at the 9-hole Westwood Plateau in Port Coquitlam. This was their annual fun day. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Sunny and 13 degrees. Below one of the 5 teams, from right to left: Henry Wilsenack, Chris Dircks, Michael Burgener and Ton Ensink.
