You can also read about my roller blade experiences from previous years.
Besides skiing during the winter months Vancouver has a lot of outdoor sports to offer. Like roller blading (skeelers or inline skates) in the summer. There a plenty of opportunities around to practice the sport. A couple of rounds in Stanley Park is my favorite (10 kilometers of blade-able tracks). Ton bought himself a couple of real cool awesome pair of Fila F70 roller blades in 2000 (with Abec 5 bearings and aluminum frame) and body protection gear. No rental blades for him anymore ... below you will find an overview of when and where we went roller blading. The are also pictures available of some of the events.
| Date | Details | Where? |
| 01) Sa 06-Jul-2002 | First time roller blading this season, with Michelle in Seymour Demonstration Forrest in North Vancouver. They have a brand new stretch of pavement, specially for roller bladers and bycicles. It is 11 kilometers (one way). | Seymour Demonstration Forrest |
| 02) Th 25-Jul-2002 | After work, from home to Second Beach in Stanley Park. There I met 3 Dutch travellers who were swimming there. | Second Beach, Stanley Park |
| 03) Su 28-Jul-2002 | Roller blading with Michelle. The tunnel at Stanley Park was closed due to construction so we went to False Creek to see and hear the Molson Indy race. | False Creek |
| 04) Su 25-Aug-2002 | Ton went roller blading to English Bay. | English Bay |
| 05) Su 22-Sep-2002 | From 3-6.30 PM: Ton skated to Flase Creek, watched a soccer match and skated back to English Bay for a Jumbo Smokey, an ice cream at Mondo Gelato (Denman Street) and coffee at Starbucks. It was awesome fall weather (sunny day) which brought out lots of people to the sea wall. | False Creek, English Bay |
